Beginnings

By Categories: The Goddess and The FoolPublished On: January 20th, 2019

To kick off this series of blog posts, I think it’s only right to start with the beginning of the beginning. So, here are the opening lines of The Goddess of Hearts and The Fool of Hope, enjoy!

She awoke and looked to the Darkness.
Rising from her throne, The Goddess strode outwards listening closely.
He soon came stumbling into view, head down, clutching his chest.
And The Goddess listened to him singing his lament.

She swept me up
in Her waltz across the heavens
She pierced my darkness with pinpricks of light
Speckled with smiles
and laughter
and faith
and Hope

She was the Stars in my Sky
and just like them She was
always out of reach
always too far
No matter how I grasped
my palm would never take hold
The silence thrummed like thunder
and the distance fell in upon us like the waves of
the sea that pulled Me and Her apart
We did not move
and yet the space between was stretched and
wrenched

Well today the Stars
they weep
They drift one by one towards the waters that wall
our bond
The Sky splinters and they fall with Her between
the lines
The selfish Horizon
it covets the Ash of the Celestials
it robs and harbours the sparks
It dims Her from my life
and hides Her from my eyes

Soon they will all fade
and all I will be left with are the lights behind my
closed eyes
I see Her dance
and remember that no matter how close I stepped
I could never hold Her in my arms
The truth was even before the Sea
the Sky
held Her from me
From the beginning I was never to see more than
a shimmer

When all the lights of the sky have fallen
and my wishes upon each one have reached silence
my tears will cease to fall
and my love for Her will be silent

Hope you have made a Fool of Me
