To My Dearest: Autumn

By Categories: To My DearestPublished On: November 6th, 2020

To My Dearest,

Autumn comes, a slow shrug from the world as it settles for rest. The trees have begun to blanket it, the birds leaving so as not to stir it in the dark mornings.
To you, my mind wanders. Knowing the daylight is almost a flicker of a candle’s flame, and the wind a villain to our breath and skin.
I hope you find solace in the nights. I had always preferred them anyway. There is a certain quiet you can only get with the moon and the stars as your lanterns.
And I am heavy of heart in knowing that I must leave you with a quieter quiet than usual.

But know that my mind is abuzz with you. Perhaps sometimes you know: a shiver on the neck, a smile from the aether, a tingle, a warmth in your palm.

Fear not Autumn, my sweet. For it is a time to settle within oneself. To find calm in white noise of rainfall. To bluster at the wind, from behind the window. To do as the trees and let your burdens, as golden medals of patience, fall free from you. Let them leave, as it were.

And relinquish not into the gloom, when our love still burns bright and hot.
With all my love, tinder for your fire,
My Dearest
